La Magnifique: Flute Music for the Court of Louis XIV
The duo of leading flautists Barthold Kuijken and Immanuel Davis presents a program that portrays the ‘birth’ of the flute in France in the late 17th century. Featuring early petites pièces to more virtuoso suites and sonatas, the album consists of works by Louis-Nicolas Clérambault, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Michel Lambert and Marin Marais, among others. They are joined by the award-winning viola da gamba player Arnie Tanimoto, and harpsichordist Donald Livingston.
